RAMP is a volunteer Muskoka community of seasonal and permanent residents with the mission to reduce and eliminate regional generational poverty, which is at one of the highest levels in the province. The members of RAMP recognized an opportunity to shine a light on the issue of poverty in Muskoka.
The discussion around a strong Muskoka, the importance of understanding the impact of poverty on our community, and those who are living in poverty and the working poor, has never been so important.
Throughout the pandemic the West Muskoka Food Bank has seen new faces showing up in need of support. Professionals, business owners, and others who would never have considered needing its service, are now reluctantly at the doorstep.
We continue to hear the phrase, “we are all in this together”, and members of RAMP believe that the focus on community, working together, and caring for your neighbours speaks directly to our mission as an important initiative aimed at a unified and resilient Muskoka.
RAMP will raise awareness and support those organizations that are working to lift people up, and out of poverty.
A strong Muskoka is good for all of us.
